Maltreatment, Bullying, Harassment & Aggressive Behavior

3 on 3 Superleague is a non-contact league and meant to be a unique and fun experience for all. We advertise that we are a non-contact league so players should not have an expectation of being subjected to unwarranted physical play or aggressive behavior from any opponent, regardless of circumstances. As well, our much-valued officials prefer not to have to deal with this type of behavior either.

We are committed to contributing to the physical, psychological, social and spiritual health of individuals of varying abilities, backgrounds and interests. We believe that only when sport environments are safe and inclusive can these values be realized.

Participants in 3on3 Superleague should have the reasonable expectation that it will be in an environment that is accessible, inclusive and free from all forms of Maltreatment, Bullying and Harassment. This means providing a safe environment for everyone involved in the game.

Any form of bullying, harassment, or maltreatment - whether physical, emotional or sexual - of any participant in any program is unacceptable. It can happen between peers, younger and older players, or adults and young players. Each team, parent, volunteer and staff member is expected to take all reasonable steps to safeguard the welfare of participants - especially young participants - and protect them from any form of violence.

A new national reporting system has been implemented to eradicate discrimination of all forms from the game. The Playing Rules and system includes, but is not limited to, discrimination based on race, ethnic origin, skin colour, religion, age, sexual orientation, gender identity and disability. Incidents of Maltreatment will be taken seriously and can result in expulsion from the league.

Aggressive behavior will not be tolerated including but not limited to:

  • threats and attempts to intimidate
  • throwing of articles in a deliberate or aggressive manner
  • aggressively approaching another individual and
  • physical violence of another individual
  • disrespectfully disputing or arguing any decision made by an official
  • using obscene or vulgar language in a boisterous manner at anyone at any time.

Coaches, and other team officials, players, parents and fans are not permitted:

  • in the official’s dressing room;
  • to confront game officials about the game
  • to confront off-ice officials about the game, including the scorekeepers/timekeepers

Our goal is to:

- Promote positive cheering behaviors among all spectators and fans.

- Increase the level of understanding among spectators and fans of the importance of creating a positive and supportive environment for minor hockey participants.

- Reduce or eliminate abusive behavior towards all Players, Referees, Coaches, Managers, Assistants and Volunteers.

- Encourage players to play by the rules and to resolve conflict without resorting hostility or violence

Part of our process of due diligence is monitoring registrants in our league and their penalty statistics on the teams where they currently play. Players that have a history of being suspended for aggressive and excessive physical play, give us cause for concern. For these players there are suspension guidelines in place. Should a player purposefully target another player with illegal body contact, hits to the head, or any other aggressive physical play, they will be suspended as we see fit.
